Meet Our New Nurse Recruiter: Destimona Anokye

Born and bred in New York, Destimona Anokye is well on her way to graduating next year. She loves analyzing movies and tv shows and enjoys social commentary media. She recently joined ProMed Staffing Resources as a Nurse Recruiter

Below, Destimona tells us about her perspective working as a nurse recruiter, discusses her approach to recruiting, and shares some interesting facts about herself. Don’t miss our rapid-fire segment with her!

  1. Can you talk about your experience as a recruiter?

Before entering the Healthcare industry, I worked in the workforce development field, developing jobs for diverse young professionals. I found that I enjoyed talking to people about their career journeys. Over the years, I have had many roles that lead to developing my HR, Operations, and Recruiting skills.

 

  1. What attracted you to ProMed Staffing Resources?

I was attracted to ProMed Staffing Resources because of the professional environment, the leadership team, and room for growth. I love my job because I get to employ nurses whom I deeply admire. A lot of nurses are passionate about helping people, which is something I can relate to.

  1. Tell us about your most interesting hires.

My approach to recruiting is to get to know my candidates. I enjoy learning about their lives, and I work to find employment solutions that fit their needs. It feels really good when I am able to match their needs with a job offer. I have hired some great people so far. I admire their ability to juggle their many competing priorities, including working multiple jobs, going to school, or raising their children while working.

  1. What is your mantra for life and work?

One of my main mantras in life is that every day is a new opportunity to learn. Whether that is personal development or learning a new skill that makes my job more efficient, I have a constant need to grow as a person.

  1. Tell us three things about you that people might not guess about you?

Three things about me that people might not know about me:

I am on track to complete graduate school in 2022

I am a natural introvert with a splash of extrovert energy when it comes to my work

I love performance art and creative writing

I would like to visit Hawaii
